We began at the school many years ago, serving limited students and providing limited programs – all funded by private sources. R.O.C.K. wanted to do more, but had little option to expand.
At that time, the school’s existing after-school program was struggling. During the 2010-2011 school year, R.O.C.K. was approached by the City of San Francisco, San Francisco Unified School District, and the community of Visitacion Valley to take over the fledgling program and become the full after-school program at El Dorado Elementary School as its ExCel program.
Today, we operate as the lead after-school program at El Dorado Elementary School. Kids in the program are exposed to a mixture of learning enrichment, sports and fitness, academic support. These programs help our kids feel like they’re part of the R.O.C.K. family, as they form lasting relationships with role models and other participants throughout their day.
Additionally, R.O.C.K. also provides support at El Dorado Elementary during the school day in the form of adult learning assistants who assist in classes needing extra attention.
