Job Title: Youth Wellness Assistant

Pay: $16.50 – $20/hour depending on experience

Hours: 9am – 6:00pm  Monday-Friday (August 12, 2019 -June 2, 2020 – SFUSD 19-20 School Year)

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support the Wellness Center during the school day with daily student check ins
  • Facilitate talk it outs and utilize restorative practices
  • Partner with parents and guardians, school staff, R.O.C.K. staff, and any other necessary partners to create a cohesive support network for students
  • Support with behavior issues and conflict resolution tactics
  • Support student’s individual behavior needs by following student behavior plans
  • Provide supervision and support during lunch and recess as needed
  • Support After School Staff when needed, and be able to fill in for classes when needed
  • Create and maintain a safe and respectful learning environment
  • Develop positive relationships with students, teachers and staff and maintain positive rapport with parents/guardians
  • Maintain communication with Site Coordinator and Beacon Director
  • Attend all scheduled R.O.C.K. program events
  • Attend bi-weekly staff meetings and school meetings as needed



  • Bachelor’s degree – related field preferred
  • One year of experience working with children
  • Demonstrated commitment to the success of underrepresented students
  • Empathetic approach to working with students with behavioral needs
  • Understanding of restorative practices
  • Experience working with elementary aged students
  • Reliable means of transportation to and from program
  • Bilingual in Spanish, Cantonese and/or Samoan is a plus
  • Provide proof of a negative TB screen within the past four years
  • Candidates must go through a background check after a conditional offer is made
