THE JOB

Job Overview: R.O.C.K. seeks part-time teachers for our after-school program serving Kindergarten-5th grade students.
Job Title:

  • Afterschool Homework Tutor
  • Afterschool Recreation Teacher (P.E.)
  • Afterschool Dance Teacher
  • Afterschool Science Teacher
  • Afterschool Art Teacher

Pay: $14 – 18/hour depending on experience
Commitment: Program runs until June 5, 2018;
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday 1:30 – 6:00 pm / Thursday 12:30-6:00 pm
Start Date: Immediately

 

THE REQUIREMENTS

  • 48 college credits from an accredited college or university or successful completion of the Instructional Aide Exam
  • 1 year experience in working with children
  • Desire to work with at-risk urban children
  • Sense of humor
  • Have a reliable means of transportation to and from program
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish, Cantonese and/or Samoan is a plus


THE IMPACT

  • Develop, lead, and evaluate daily engaging enrichment projects for 15 – 25 students daily or Improve academic skills during tutoring
  • Effective classroom management using positive discipline philosophy and restorative practices
  • Complete engaging lesson plans
  • Create and maintain a safe and respectful learning environment
  • Develop positive relationships with students, teachers and staff and maintain positive rapport with parents/guardians
  • Be a leader and role model to youth
  • Set-up and clean-up of program spaces
  • Maintain communication with Program Coordinators
  • Attend all scheduled program events
  • Assist in planning program wide celebrations
  • Attend monthly and weekly all staff meetings
