You Get a Backpack!

The week before school started, the Visitacion Valley community came together to make sure that our kids were ready for school. San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee came out to aid Mercy Housing’s initiative to provide 5,500 backpacks packed with school supplies to Visitaction Valley students, including our R.O.C.K.ers! The new backpacks made our kids so excited to get started with their new school year.

As the majority of our families in Visitacion Valley are low income, the cost of back to school books, supplies, and clothing can be a serious strain. This program provides a little bit of cushion to the cost associated with back to school activities. We are always doing our best at R.O.C.K. to fill in the gaps, and support our children toward healthier, happier and more successful futures.
